KarmSolar envisioned this facility to function as an important landmark point for company operations in central and southern Egypt to showcase our projects to clients. It was essential that it make a visual statement for the company while enhancing the user experience for both staff and visitors. Even though functionally small, we needed to be creative in managing the harsh climatic factors of this naturally hostile desert region in terms of extreme summer heat, sandstorms and harsh, cold winters. As the site is located on the site of an agricultural company with large poultry farms nearby, we were prohibited from using any vegetation. This of course limited our ability to use vegetation to insulate the facility from harsh climactic events.
The campus functions as an operations facility for monitoring, managing and maintaining the PV Solar power plants KarmSolar has erected in Dakahlia Farms as well as future expansions for PV plants in the Minya region. It consists of workspaces, storage area and living/sleeping quarters for stationed staff and provides facilities for visiting staff from head office. It also has a meeting room to serve various purposes including hosting potential clients and team meetings.
